Butt in chair time
Sep. 3rd, 2014 07:55 pmA conversation I had with one of my best friends (yes, the very one who came up with the punishment game) came to mind today. It was about a certain author who described writing with an elaborate tale about a knight chasing down and trying to grab frolicking girls (her muse I guess?) and how it's always easier when her muse and her will (the knight?) got together willingly. It was supposed to be an explanation as to why the next book in a series had been pushed back by...years. That makes several kinds of no sense and I blame that on the fact that I never really understood what the chick was talking about. Neither did my friend. We preferred what Jim Butcher said. There's no substitute for Butt In Chair time. Just write. He's got a lot of great advice (see the link below). On that note I really need to get the next couple chapters of my stories finished, polished, edited, and up. Now that I think about it that conversation may have started the punishment game. It is a wonderful motivator for butt in chair time.
